In 1995, the Huntsman family pledged $151
million to construct a state-of-
the-art cancer center. Ten years later, through achievements in
research, patient care, and education, Huntsman Cancer Institute
(HCI) has earned a reputation for excellence.
While we are rightfully proud of this high regard,
the responses from patients are truly satisfying. An ovarian cancer
survivor who was treated at HCI told her doctor of all the places
she has received care, including major cancer centers on the east
coast, HCI is the only place where she felt treated like a person.
She mentioned the kindness and cheer of all she came in contact
with, being greeted by name, and the wonderful ambience created
by the décor of the buildings.
This is what HCI aims to accomplish—creating
a place that simultaneously offers state-of-the-art clinical care,
pushes the boundaries in research, and provides a comforting human
touch for patients and their loved ones. |
