What is Huntsman Cancer Information Service?

• A toll-free telephone service sponsored by Huntsman Cancer Institute that provides accurate, up-to-date information on all aspects of cancer (including but not limited to: risk factors, prevention, screening and early detection, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and coping).

• A place to call for referrals to cancer programs and services within Utah.

• A place to call for referrals to clinical trials and/or other special programs at  Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Who may use the service?

• The service is for cancer patients, families, friends, the general public, and health professionals.  Anyone who has a cancer related question is welcome to call.
• Because cancer is such a complicated issue, the Huntsman Cancer Information Service is not able to adequately address cancer-related questions through e-mail, please call us or stop by the HCI learning center for information.

When is Huntsman Cancer Information Service open?

• Office hours are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The office is closed on holidays.  Voice mail is available for calls after-hours.  All calls will be returned on the next business day.

How much do you charge?

• All information and patient education materials are free.

Who will answer my questions?

• All calls are answered by specially trained cancer information specialists.  Information specialists may consult with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to ensure they provide the most accurate, up-to-date information available.
