Jon M Huntsman

IN MEMORIAM

Huntsman Cancer Institute began in 1993 with a dream and an empty hillside – a dream to build a cancer center unlike any other. More than 20 years later, Huntsman Cancer Institute is a world leader in cancer genetics and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Mountain West.
Mr. Huntsman passed away at home on February 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Tributes flowed in from around the world.

Huntsman Golf Classic logo

Huntsman Cancer Foundation established the first golf classic dubbed “The Most Meaningful Golf You Can Play” in 2002. Funds from the event have and will continue to be used exclusively to fund cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Without corporate partners and private philanthropy, Huntsman Cancer Institute would be unable to perform the groundbreaking research that is happening in our labs. You play a vital role in the cancer fight. Your participation in the annual golf campaign matters!

This event is perfect for companies and individuals who want to reward sales staff or invite new partners.

About Promontory Private Golf Club, Park City, Utah

Course: Pete Dye Canyon Course (Named #2 Golf Course in Utah by Golf Digest Magazine)

The Pete Dye Canyon Course was designed by Pete Dye. Pete Dye designed Promontory’s Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course (7,690 yards) to reward accuracy and to take dramatic advantage of the rugged terrain of Promontory’s hills and canyons. He incorporated multiple tee boxes to suit all levels of play and provide a pleasurable playing experience for players of all skills. Promontory—named by Golf Inc. magazine’s “Golf Development of the Year.”

Chairman's Circle Outing logo

Our most exclusive golf event will be held at Nicklaus Painted Valley Course at Promontory Club Park. This course was designed by Jack Nicklaus (8,098 yards) in a links style to flow alongside a stream, through Promontory’s high-altitude valleys. As might be expected, this course rewards the ability to hit the ball, but it also provides forward tees, broad fairways, and grassy approaches that make for a fun
tournament.

The Huntsman Chairman’s Circle features a day of golf, on-course contests, gifts, culinary delights, and a reception to learn how your dollars have impacted breakthroughs at Huntsman Cancer Institute. This is the most meaningful golf you can play.

Become one of Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s biggest supporters and be an instrumental part of good in your community. 100% of the proceeds support groundbreaking research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

What We Have Accomplished

Our two premier golf events – the Huntsman Golf Classic and Huntsman Chairman’s Circle - consistently raise $1.5M each year, raising more than $25.5M in the history of these two events.

The most innovative new ideas are seeded by private philanthropy. It takes $50,000 to provide the funding to determine if a new idea can make it to the next phase of research.
