Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by a loss of bone tissue. It causes weak bones and an increased risk for
fractures or breaks. Cancer patients have a higher incidence of osteoporosis than the general population, leading to
increased risk for fractures and breaks.
The Wellness Center’s Bone Health and Osteoporosis Program services include the following:
- Physician consultation
- Screening for causes of osteoporosis
- Nutrition consultation
- Medication management
- Weight-bearing exercise, postural training, and strength training through the Wellness Center Fitness Program
