pain management

Many patients with multiple myeloma experience some level of pain during their treatment. This pain can be caused by the disease itself, a side effect of treatment, or by factors such as a weakened immune system.

The Myeloma Program offers a holistic approach to pain management. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life of each myeloma patient while respecting personal preferences.

Pain Control
Uncontrolled pain can interfere with cancer treatment and affects quality of life. Therefore, our team of medical specialists and other health care professionals provides a variety of pain treatments:

  • Medications
  • Surgical procedures, including vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, to help relieve pain associated with spinal compression fractures
  • Physical therapies

Holistic Medicine
Holistic medicine promotes wellness in addition to offering a reprieve from pain. Services offered at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) include:

  • Massage therapy
  • Hypnosis
  • Guided imagery
  • Relaxation
  • Stress management
  • Nutritional support
  • Acupuncture

Our goal is to help you achieve an optimal state of health by incorporating traditional medicine with complementary services.
