Complementary TherapiesYoga can help myeloma patients, especially those who have bone pains.

The complications of multiple myeloma can impact the body in many ways. The Myeloma Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) offers a variety of complementary therapies and services that focus on physical and emotional well-being and help patients alleviate side effects of treatment such as nausea, fatigue, and pain.

We encourage patients to join support groups, consult with social workers, and take advantage of free access to the Wellness Center and the Cancer Learning Center.

The Linda B. and Robert B. Wiggins Wellness Center provides patients with a sense of balance and well-being by offering services such as free nutrition counseling, a fitness program, yoga classes, acupuncture, and therapy to help with anxiety and pain management.

These non-medical therapies help reduce tension and give patients a sense of control over their bodies. They are also designed to increase the quality of life and improve the mood and self-esteem of people with multiple myeloma.

In addition, Huntsman Cancer Learning Center provides patients and their loved ones access to the latest books, magazines, and journals to help answer questions about cancer and to help individuals coordinate with their health care team to make better treatment decisions.
