Salt Lake City, UT – Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah (HCI) today announced that Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. will be appointed to the position of Chairman of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (the Foundation), effective immediately.
Huntsman recently concluded his candidacy for president of the United States. He has served in numerous public and private positions around the world, most recently as the United States Ambassador to China. Huntsman previously served as the Foundation's first president and CEO and has been committed to the Foundation's efforts to support research and clinical care for all those who suffer from this terrible disease.
Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. will replace his father and founder of Huntsman Cancer Institute, Jon M. Huntsman, who will serve in the capacity of Chairman Emeritus of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
"Jon comes to the Foundation with a wealth of leadership experience," Jon M. Huntsman commented. "This appointment will significantly further the work of the Foundation. Mary Beckerle, HCI director and CEO, said, "On behalf of all HCI's patients and their families, I am deeply grateful to Jon M. Huntsman, who has served for 17 years as the Chairman of the Foundation Board. I am thrilled that the legacy of leadership, passion, and commitment to the greatest human health challenge of our time will continue with the appointment of Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. HCI is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the entire Intermountain West.
