Cancer Screening Guidelines
Ask your health-care provider to do these
simple tests
Women
- If you are sexually active-no matter how
old you are-you should have a Pap test and
pelvic exam every year.
- 18-39 years old: Every three years, have
a breast exam and cancer checkup by a
health-care provider.
- 40 and up: Have a mammogram and a
cancer-related checkup once a year in addition to
the tests listed above.
- 50 and up: Add colon cancer screening once
a year to all the tests listed above.
Men
- If you are between the ages of 15 and 34,
examine your testicles monthly for lumps
or changes.
- 18-39 years old: Every three years, have a
cancer-related checkup by a health-care provider.
- 40 and up: Have a cancer-related checkup
every year.
- 50 and up: Add colon cancer screening,
prostate specific antigen test and digital rectal
exam once a year to all the tests listed above.
