Pharmacodynamics

Pharmacodynamics is the study of how drugs affect the body. In Phase I clinical trials, researchers measure the pharmacodynamic effects of new agents using samples collected from a patient's tumor or nontumor cells. The study of pharmacodynamic changes caused by new agents, over time and at different concentrations, can help provide an early understanding of how best to utilize a new drug and what patients might benefit from treatment.
