Patient Education Classes
The Myeloma Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute offers patient education classes every Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. These classes are designed to cover a broad range of issues related to myeloma and the treatment of this type of cancer.
We believe it is crucial that the patient and caregiver be informed. We try to present rather complicated material in a manner that can be understood. Patients and caregivers can come to the classes as many times as needed, since it can be difficult to absorb everything in just one class. Participants typically come to the classes before beginning treatment so they can know more about what to expect.
To register for the class, patients can call their clinic coordinator or our new patient coordinator, Lori Griffin.
During the classes, various health care professionals will speak to participants about their area of expertise. Presenters include the following specialists:
- Dietitian
- Financial Counselor
- Social Worker
- Nurse
- Pharmacist
- Cancer Exercise Specialist
| "To each of you who were so efficient and kind to me during my visit this week, I want to say thanks. My trip back to Kansas was uneventful. It is reassuring to know that I have the best team in the world working for me.
I will always try to keep in mind that my extended days on this planet are due in part to your efforts, and that I should be mindful of that as I conduct myself at all times so as to reflect positive credit upon your care." –Doug M. of Kansas |
