Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) is a state-of-the-art facility located in Salt Lake City, Utah. HCI is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center. The cancer hospital is part of the University of Utah Health Care system, which is a 400 bed tertiary teaching hospital. HCI opened in July 2004 with a major expansion completed in 2011. The cancer hospital includes the following:

  • 100 inpatient beds
  • 102 examination/procedure rooms
  • 84 treatment rooms
  • 68 total chemotherapy stations
  • 5 Linear accelerators
  • 2 digital mammography machines
  • 1 Intraoperative MRI
  • 1 daVinci Surgical Robot

HCI offers a directed 12-month postgraduate training program in oncology pharmacy practice. The program helps residents develop knowledge and skills to achieve competency in an oncology environment. Residents are involved in maintaining and improving oncology practice by providing pharmacy support in various service areas.

Upon completion of the residency, the pharmacist will be well-prepared to practice in a variety of oncology settings. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists using the Standard for Residencies in Pharmacy Practice. View the Pharmacy Specialty Residency brochure.
