Many Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) prostate cancer patients can benefit from a new, less invasive approach to surgery called the da Vinci Robotic System. With the robotic system, HCI prostate cancer surgeons use a computer console in the operating room to control small instruments that access a patient’s prostate through five tiny cuts in the abdomen.
Benefits of da Vinci Robotic System vs. Conventional Prostate Cancer Surgery
- Less nerve and bladder damage
- More complete tumor removal
- Smaller incisions
- Faster recovery time
HCI surgeons have performed more than 400 da Vinci procedures, more than any other hospital in the Intermountain West (Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming).
