Endoscopy

Endoscopy is the use of a lighted, flexible instrument called an endoscope to examine inside the body through a natural opening. Nurses assist during this proceduren which is commonly used to evaluate esophageal, stomach, pancreatic, and rectal cancers. Endoscopy patients are typically treated on an outpatient basis. After they are examined, they are brought to the same-day surgery recovery area.
