David Bahler, MD, PhD, is associate professor in the Department of Pathology and medical director of the ARUP
Hematologic Flow Cytometry Laboratory at the University of Utah. He is also an investigator with Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Bahler’s research interests include MALT lymphomas, immunoglobulin gene analysis, hematopathology, and clinical applications of
flow cytometry.
Bahler received his PhD in immunology and his MD from the University of Rochester in New York. Afterward, he completed his
residency in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a
fellowship in hematopathology at the University of California, San Francisco. Before joining the University of Utah, Bahler was
assistant professor of pathology and associate director of the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory at the University of
Pittsburgh. Bahler is certified by the American Board of Pathology in clinical pathology with an added qualification in
hematology.
