Gregory Katzman, MD, multidisciplinary faculty member at Huntsman Cancer Institute, is an associate
professor of neuroradiology and medical informatics at the University of Utah, where he serves as chief of the Division
of Radiology Research. He is also chief of the Radiology Department at the Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs Hospital,
vice-director of the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research, and an investigator at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
As a neuroradiologist, Katzman focuses on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spine. He works in both
the clinical and educational arenas, where he teaches medical students, residents, and neuroradiology fellows. He also
specializes in and teaches medical informatics, a field that seeks to improve health care through the optimal use,
study, and management of medical information and databases.
Katzman joined the University of Utah in 2000. He obtained his medical degree from Indiana University in 1993; served his residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana; and received fellowships at Georgetown University Hospital
in Washington, D.C., and National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Katzman has received numerous research
grants, and has lectured and published extensively. Currently, his broadened interests include the business aspects of
health care; he is pursuing an executive MBA at the University of Utah.
