Dennis Shrieve, MD, PhD, is team leader of the brain tumor program at Huntsman
Cancer Institute and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah School
of Medicine. Shrieve's primary clinical research interests include adult and pediatric neuro-oncology, pediatric radiation oncology, and conformal radiotherapy. His basic research interests
include intrinsic radiosensitivity of human tumors, the mechanisms of intrinsic cellular resistance
to radiation and chemotherapy, and combined chemotherapy/radiotherapy.
Shrieve has received numerous young investigator awards and is a member of American, European, and
international professional societies related to his field of interest. He is a member of the national
Space Biomedical Research Institute and the brain tumor progress review group for the National Cancer
Institute and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
Shrieve received his MD from the University of Miami and his PhD in radiation biophysics from the
University of California at Berkeley. He has served on the faculties of the University of California,
San Francisco, and Harvard Medical School.
