Richard A. Kerber, PhD

Associate Professor, Department of Oncological Sciences

Richard Kerber, PhD, is an investigator in the Population Sciences Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute and an associate professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah School of Medicine. His research focuses on the environmental and genetic influences on cancer risk in human populations. He is currently engaged in studies designed to identify families who are at particularly high risk of cancer and to characterize the genes responsible. He is also interested in the factors that lead to different clinical outcomes among people with similar genetic predispositions.

Kerber earned his PhD in anthropology from Northwestern University in 1986. He joined the faculty of the University of Utah in 1991 and became associated with Huntsman Cancer Institute in 1994. He is a member of the American Statistical Association, the Society for Epidemiologic Research, and the International Genetic Epidemiology Society. His work has appeared in several journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Epidemiology, and the American Journal of Epidemiology.
