Richard Kerber, PhD, is an investigator in the Population Sciences Program at Huntsman Cancer
Institute and an associate professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah School of

currently engaged in studies designed to identify families who are at particularly high risk of cancer and to
characterize the genes responsible. He is also interested in the factors that lead to different clinical outcomes among
people with similar genetic predispositions.
Kerber earned his PhD in anthropology from Northwestern University in 1986. He joined the faculty of the University
of Utah in 1991 and became associated with Huntsman Cancer Institute in 1994. He is a member of the American Statistical Association, the Society for Epidemiologic Research, and the International Genetic Epidemiology Society. His work has
