Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Darin Furgeson, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Utah and a Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) investigator.

Furgeson and his lab have two main areas of research: getting rid of cancerous cells in tumor margins (the area that surrounded cancerous tissue before the tissue was removed) and delivering treatments for disorders of the brain, spine, and nerves (neurodiseases) across the brain blood barrier. His goal is to create more treatment options for neurodiseases.

Furgeson completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in biomedical engineering at Duke University. He received a PhD in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Utah.
