Joyce Mitchell, PhD, FACMI, FACMG, is a professor and department chair in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah and a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program.
Mitchell studies the informatics of personalized medicine and genetic testing. She is a member of the Cancer Center Support Grant Internal Advisory Committee. She directs the National Institutes of Health-funded Biomedical Informatics Training Grant, which supports trainees working on cancer-relevant research projects.
Mitchell received a PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Before joining the University of Utah, she spent 25 years in leadership positions at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.
